| Your
brief is the instruction that will be used to develop the programme treatment
and firm up costs. The better the brief the more chance there is of a successful
production. The brief should be as comprehensive as possible based on an accurate
appraisal of what you want to achieve through the programme. As
a guide the following points should be addressed:- *
What is the aim if the programme? *
Define the intended audience. *
What is desired effect on audience? Instruct or inform? Change attitudes or behaviour?
What action should result from the programme? *
Degree of urgency? *
Ideal programme length? *
Type of presentation; documentary, "fly-on-wall", presenter, talk-over,
music only or maybe a mixture? *
Style of presentation; matter of fact, serious or humorous? *
Use of graphics; extensive, limited or none? *
Soundtrack; any music preferences? Note that commercial music copyright fees can
be substantial and copyright free, library music should be considered. *
Script, if required to be developed by whom? *
Budget; how much is allowed for the programme? I
hope this gives you some ideas for your intended production. Call BW Videofilms
